Located in Fairfax County, VA, Chantilly is recognized as a census-designated place. It covers an area of 12.15 square miles, with only 0.13 square miles covered by water. It is surrounded by Centreville to the southern side, Herndon on the northern side, Reston to the north east and Fairfax to the south east. Chantilly has an elevation of 322 ft. Chantilly was named after one of the several colonial plantations that were set up during the colonial period. The Battle of Chantilly took place close to the area and was hence named after the location. The process that saw Chantilly transform into a city started after 1980. This is a one-of-a-kind destination, with real vintage planes from World War 2 that are difficult to find anywhere else.
The Ox Hill Battlefield Park is another historic site where visitors can walk around the trail and learn about the battle that took place there. The placards and signs offer lots of information for history lovers.
