Annandale VA – Facts and Figures

There are two other states in America with towns called Annandale – Minnesota and New Jersey. The one in Virginia is recognized as a census location by the United States Census Bureau. It is found in Fairfax County and borders Lake Barcroft, Lincolnia, Merrifield, North Springfield and Springfield. Annandale has an area of 7.86 square miles, which is all land. It got its name from a place called Annandale, which is in Scotland.


The population of Annandale according to the 2015 census was 42,893, and the median age was found to be 38.2 years.  U.S. citizens in Annandale made up 76.8% of the entire population. The three top races found in Annandale are Caucasians, Hispanics and Asians. The median household income grew by 1.26% from the previous year to $79,774. The working residents were 23,054, representing a growth in employment of 0.77%. The median property value in Annandale is $434,300.


The Hidden Oaks Nature Center is located in the Annandale District Park and has numerous woodland trails as well as creeks and gardens. A playground is also available for children to enjoy themselves. There are lots of fun activities, including live animal displays and a library of resources. The center offers group activities and is usually open every day except Tuesday. Visitors can also access information about local flora and fauna, making it the ideal location for academic trips and research.

It is a full day event where people come and have fun, with activities such as a 5K race, lots of food from the different restaurants in the area, music and children’s activities, and a very interesting competition between the area police and firefighters.
